Joseph Toris

At their core, attorneys are business partners. During the course of my career, I have worked with companies both large and small in a wide range of industries. My approach to the practice of law is to provide clients with practical advice for resolving their employee relations issues, always keeping in mind the client’s business goals and needs. I work with clients to develop policies and handbooks outlining what their employees can expect from the company, and corporate compliance and ethics programs to educate employees as to what is expected of them. I counsel employers on preventive strategies and training. I help clients protect their valuable trade secrets and confidential information through the preparation of restrictive covenant agreements and, if necessary, seek enforcement of those agreements in court. On those occasions when clients are involved in litigation with current or former employees, I work with them to devise appropriate litigation strategies and represent them in state and federal courts and before government agencies. While my practice has always focused on employment and labor issues, I also have extensive experience in diverse areas of law including commercial transactions, environmental remediation, bankruptcy, zoning and land use, real estate and business formation.
