After 12 years of working for the nation's largest law firms and representing the nation's largest banks, corporations and insurance companies, I discovered that, when an individual or small business was on the other side, they were the ones who needed my help. Thousands of top-tier lawyers from top-tier law schools and firms represent corporate America. Only a handful of such lawyers represent the "little guy." I do not believe that all large corporations are bad, or that all individuals and small businesses are good. I do know, however, that the single greatest flaw in our justice system --- a system I love and to which I have devoted my life --- is that 99 times out of 100, the large corporation will win, regardless of who os right or who is wrong, because of the inequality of representation. So I took my Harvard degrees, my insight gained from representing corporate American for more than a decade and my passion for the law, and started my own firm representing individuals and small businesses. I earn 20% of what I could earn in a big city law firm, and work at least as much, but I can wake up in the morning secure in my belief that, while my client may or may not prevail, he/she/it will not lose merely because of an imbalance in representation.
