Jon Abernathy

Jon Abernathy, an Indiana native, is a 1983 graduate of Valparaiso University School of Law. Upon graduating, Jon served as a law clerk to the Honorable Wesley W. Ratliff of the Indiana Court of Appeals. He then entered private practice and joined Goodin Abernathy LLP in 1985. “The practice intrigued me at a fairly young age,” he says. “I came to realize many areas of our lives are impacted by the law. Handling these cases lets me work with individuals and help them resolve problems they couldn’t necessarily handle on their own.” Jon’s practice concentration is in litigation, with an emphasis on commercial, insurance, and personal injury matters. He has tried jury trials in state and federal courts throughout Indiana. Jon is an AV Preeminent-rated attorney and is designated as a Super Lawyer in the Indianapolis market. When he isn’t protecting the rights of his clients, Jon can be found volunteering in his community. He has served on the board of directors for Hamilton Country’s Habitat for Humanity and is active at Bethel Lutheran Church. He enjoys golfing, even though he admits he’s “very average.” He also enjoys vacationing with his wife and three daughters.
