since 1997 i have represented employers and insurance companies in the defense of worker's compensation claims. i regularly assist employers by evaluating claims, assessing exposure and developing a strategy for resolution that is in the best interest of my clients. sometimes that strategy means the mitigation of damages through a resolution of the claim. other times, that strategy involves litigation from the deputy commissioner level through the supreme court. in the past 25 years i represented employers at all levels with multiple published decisions. i have worked at lewis & roberts, pllc since its inception in 1997 and was the first associate hired by them. our attorneys are experienced in all areas of worker's compensation law from coverage questions to occupational disease to injury by accident. i have been listed as one of the best lawyers in america since 2010 and have a martindale-hubbel av preeminent ranking. in 2023 i was voted best lawyers, lawyer of the year in the raleigh region representing employers. i also believe in being active in the community. i was chair of the board of directors of note in the pocket a 501(c)(3) charity that provides clothing to poor and impoverished children, free of charge, allowing them to attend school. i am vice president of the house corporation of sigma chi fraternity at unc-ch and serve on the lewis award committee for teacher excellence in the catholic diocese of raleigh. i am former chair of the board for cardinal gibbons high school in raleigh and current member as well as a former member of the board of frankie lemmon memorial school in raleigh, a school that serves children with special needs.
