For more than four decades, I have dedicated my practice to workers' compensation defense. As Special Counsel at my firm's Columbia office, I represent employers, insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured employers across a wide range of industries - from healthcare and hospitality to trucking, manufacturing, and construction. Workers' compensation is a relationship-driven practice, and I have spent my career investing in those relationships. Whether working with South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commissioners, plaintiff's counsel, claims professionals, or medical providers, I have built the credibility and trust that lead to efficient, cost-effective resolutions for my clients. Over the course of my career, I have appeared hundreds of times before the Workers' Compensation Commission and its Appellate Panel, in administrative hearings, and before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and Supreme Court. That depth of experience means I have seen virtually every fact pattern, and I know how to navigate even the most complex claims with confidence. I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law and earned my B.A. magna cum laude from Wofford College. Before entering private practice, I was privileged to clerk for the Speaker of the South Carolina House of Representatives, the House Judiciary Committee, and the Honorable John Hamilton Smith of the South Carolina Circuit Court. Outside the office, I take my competitive nature to the tennis court. I am a four-time USTA League state champion and proud member of the 2005 National Championship team.
