John Anthony

For 38 years, John has zealously advocated for clients in the areas of complex litigation, bankruptcy, and commercial loan restructure. After 16 years serving as a department head at an established statewide law firm, John and wife Stephenie formed Anthony & Partners, LLC in 2009, to service financial institutions and other sophisticated clients from offices in Tampa. With a team of 25, A&P practices in all federal and state courts across Florida, and in bankruptcy courts and appellate courts throughout the United States, from San Francisco to New Hampshire. The complex litigation practice includes loan enforcement, lender liability, usury, trade secrets, unfair competition, noncompete, land use, large judgment collection, property disputes, shareholder disputes, corporate dissolutions, and a vast array of business torts. The bankruptcy practice includes representation of banks, tort claimant groups, judgment creditors, significant corporate debtors, and strategic participants in chapter 11, as well as in other chapters and insolvency proceedings. Client groups in mega chapter 11 cases throughout the United States range from small client groups to hundreds of millions in claims: All efficiently represented with goal-oriented strategies. Commercial loan restructure activities have ranged from smaller representations to multiple complex restructures involving $100MM+ in debt. John has held Martindale-Hubbell "Highest AV" rating since 1996, as a 6 year attorney. John is one of 167 living attorneys to be recognized in the Hall of Fame of Florida Trend's Legal Elite, and one of a handful of practicing lawyers with a bankruptcy and insolvency/business litigation focus. John has been annually recognized by Super Lawyers for many years including the present year. He is also annually selected as a "Top Lawyer" by Tampa Bay Magazine. But the most important accolades are those he receives from his client friends who he has worked with in some instances for nearly 4 decades.
