About Jessica Smith
I am a Partner at Holland & Hart in Denver, CO. I’m a member of the Commercial Litigation Group, and I represent businesses in both state and federal court, as well as in formal arbitration proceedings. My experience includes handling bet-the-company litigation for clients, and my practice primarily centers on complex commercial disputes in various areas, such as breach of contract, fraud, intellectual property, labor and employment, real estate, and other business-related issues. In addition to my work in the Commercial Litigation Group, I also chair the firm’s national First Amendment Group where I handle a wide range of matters. This includes cases related to defamation, reporter's privilege, the Free Exercise and Establishment Clauses of the Federal Constitution, their state equivalents, tax exemptions, and other significant legal doctrines associated with the First Amendment. I also provide counsel and representation to clients on various state and federal constitutional topics, such as takings, cruel and unusual punishment, due process, equal protection, and governmental immunity. Before I joined Holland & Hart, I had the privilege of clerking for the Honorable Gregory Phillips on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and for the Honorable Gregory Hobbs on the Colorado Supreme Court.
