I am a human resources and employment law attorney with a focus on prevention for all sizes and types of companies. I have a proven track record of working with business and operations leaders to provide prompt, practical and efficient resolution of employee concerns and workplace issues. I provide legal counsel on all aspects of employment law to clients ranging from startups to local mid-market companies to major multinationals, in industries including highly-regulated health care facilities and retail banks; restaurant franchisors and franchisees; retail sales; closely-held manufacturers; primary schools; and not-for-profits. I excel at giving day-to-day practical and legal counsel to business leaders on: social media; wage and hour compliance; independent contractor and misclassification issues; leave of absence and disability accommodations; workplace investigations; harassment prevention and correction; performance management; code of conduct and restrictive covenant development and compliance; and employee liabilities related to global restructurings and reductions in force. I regularly conduct employee and management training courses, including anti-harassment, discrimination and retaliation training, and speak to business leader and industry groups and associations on how to effectively manage employees in accordance with various employment laws. I prepare and direct implementation of multi-jurisdictional employee handbooks, policies and procedures. I act as primary defense counsel for discrimination, harassment and other improper employment practices claims, including those arising under Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, FMLA, WARN, state and local laws, and class actions. I have particular skills in effective negotiation of settlement and conciliation agreements with state and federal agencies on behalf of employers, as well as employment and separation agreements with senior executives. I prosecute and defend restrictive covenant enforcement actions and prosecute restraining and protective order actions. I defend defamation, breach of contract and other tort actions on behalf of employers sued by former employees. I also defend ADA Title III and FOIA enforcement actions.
