About Jan Breslauer
Jan Breslauer, MA, MFA, JD, is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama, She spent almost twenty years working with comedy legend Garry Marshall and was one of his attorneys until his death in 2016. A veteran journalist as well, Ms. Breslauer’s writings have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the Washington Post, Vanity Fair, The New Republic, the Los Angeles Review of Books, the Orange County Register, and other periodicals. Her articles on arts and cultural issues have been cited in Amicus briefs before the United States Supreme Court and in the United States Congressional Record. Ms. Breslauer has served on various nonprofit boards, including two years as Vice-Chair of Arts for L.A. She holds advanced degrees in Political Science, Theater, and Law, from the University of California, Yale, and Chapman University’s Fowler School of Law. She has taught at universities and graduate programs across the country, including Yale, UCSD, UCLA, and CalArts, where she most recently taught contract law. Ms. Breslauer practices in several areas of law, including entertainment, estate planning and mobilehome park law.
