About James Roy

Jim has represented seriously injured people throughout Louisiana for over 40 years. No stranger to Federal and State courthouses, he has been involved in some memorable litigation, including as lead trial counsel for the double amputee plaintiff in Becker v. Tidewater (obtained approximate $43 million federal court compensatory damage jury verdict). In the Katrina litigation he served as MRGO PSLC Liaison and a Trial team Leader for the MRGO Robinson Test Case in the trial court victory over the Corps of Engineers. He gave the opening statement for the plaintiffs in the MDL 2179 BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill Limitation trial (Phase I-- 29 trial days); this case involved the largest and most complex oil spill litigation in U.S. history. He served in MDL 2179 (BP Deepwater Horizon) as Co-Liason Counsel and Co-Lead Class Counsel and was deeply involved in negotiating the multi-billion dollar economic and property damage settlement with BP, as well as the settlements with Halliburton and Transocean. Jim's law practice primarily involves representing plaintiffs in serious personal injury, wrongful death, maritime and complex litigation. He is Senior Trial Counsel at the law firm of Domengeaux Wright Roy & Edwards in Lafayette, Louisiana. 337-233-3033. Email: jimr@wrightroy.com
