About James Banks
After being retired for 6 years Jim was honored to be asked to be the Administrative Magistrate for the Second Judicial Circuit for the State of Floridas. He has taught courses in criminology and psychology at Florida State University and delivered numerous lectures at law enforcement training academies. He served on the Florida Sentencing Commission for six (6) years after appointments by Governor Martinez and Governor Chiles. He served on the Grievance Committee for the Florida Bar. He is the author of ELCA Death Penalty Social Statement, and several chapters in the Florida Prosecution Manual (1982) and Florida Dissolution of Marriage Manual (1980's). During the past 40 years he has handled in excess of 20,000 cases, written 1,100 Wills, participated in over 550 appeals and handled over 30 first degree murder cases. He recently served as the Counselor for the Florida Mayflower Society. He is a member of the Florida Bar, Georgia Bar, Tallahassee Bar Association(past president), Jefferson County Bar Association, and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
