Jack Freedman

I have been practicing law in the Indianapolis, Indiana area since 1984. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with some of the best lawyers in the state for the first 7 years of my career. The ethics and professionalism I learned during this period has proven to be invaluable. In 1995, I went into general practice on the west side of Indianapolis. I operated a firm and practiced law under the names of Freedman & Associates and Freedman & Lacy until 2008. In 2008, I became a sole practioner and in 2010 I moved my office to Fishers, Indiana. My associates and I have always prided ourselves on caring about our clients, on making ourselves accessible and on explaining what needs to be explained. I am well versed in the psychology of family law, and I think psychological insight is often a critical factor in achieving good outcomes. I have always made integrity the cornerstone of my practice, even when that means discouraging rather than encouraging legal action! On the other hand, I am highly motivated by cases in which there is a lack of integrity on the other side. It has been intriguing to see some areas of family law -- such as cases in which child custody or parenting time are at issue -- evolve from a litigation mindset to a "collaborative" mindset. I strongly believe that children's interests need to be waived heavily in developing any litigation strategy.
