About Heidi Sharp
Heidi is a fierce advocate for employees and understands the day to day trials of the working class. Heidi practices all areas of employment law related to employers and employees including Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, sex harassment, retaliation, pregnancy discrimination, whistleblowing, employment contracts, racial discrimination, lost wages, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Elliott Larsen Civil Rights Act, and shareholder oppression claims. In addition, she is experienced in Appellate Practice and Procedure, and has written Briefs to the Michigan Court of Appeals, the Michigan Supreme Court, and the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. Heidi litigates on behalf of her clients both in the courtroom, and outside of it. She makes it her mission to ensure that her clients get the best representation possible whether it is through pre-suit negotiation, mediation, representation in the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), unemployment insurance agency, Michigan Department of Civil Rights, Michigan Employment Relations Commission, Michigan Tax Tribunal. Heidi has also successfully assisted many federal employees through the EEOC process or with their Merit Systems Protection Board Appeals (MSPB). Heidi was rated by Martindale-Hubbell “AV” beginning in 2014 and through the present; and a "BV" rating in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 and was selected for inclusion in the Michigan “Super Lawyer – Rising Stars” in 2011 - 2017 and beginning in 2018 has been selected as a "Super Lawyer" every year since. She is currently the Chair of the State Bar of Michigan Labor and Employment Section, a Co-Chair of the Employment Committee of the Federal Bar Association, a Director of the Michigan Association for Justice, a member of the State Bar of Michigan Judicial Qualifications Committee and a member of the State Bar of Michigan Character and Fitness Committee Heidi graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in May 2006 as the Editor-in-Chief of the School Newspaper In Brief and as a Cavanaugh Scholar. During law school, she received a Service Award in April 2006 in recognition of her service to the Law School Community and was a Finalist in the G. Mennen Williams Moot Court Competition.
