Harold Uhrig

I'm a trial attorney in the Criminal Law section of The Defense Group. I have handled thousands of cases and tried hundreds of criminal trials to verdict. I was a Police Sgt., enforcing DUI offenses when I graduated from Law School, and became the first Police Legal Advisor to the Gainesville Police Department. I later was appointed as General Counsel and Legal Advisor to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, and Legal Advisor to 10 of the 11 municipal police departments in Orange County. I handled those duties for four years. I was elected President of both the Florida Association of Police Attorneys and the Florida Sheriff's Association Legal Officer Section. I was an Assistant State Attorney in both the 8th and 9th Judicial Circuits and following four years in that role, was appointed as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Florida. I was a Certified Instructor in the State Regional Police Academies, and a Professor of Criminal Law & Procedure in the Master's Program in Criminal Justice at Rollins. I was a Legal Analyst for Fox 35 News for about 2 years. I was privileged to be on the defense team for the first four DNA-Evidence trials in US history. Not counting 6 years with the Gainesville Police Department as a law enforcement officer, I have over 48 years of criminal law experience.
