Hale Freeland

Admitted to practice law: Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee. Education: B.A.in History University of Mississippi (1979), J.D. University of Mississippi School of Law (1986). Qualified mediator pursuant in Mississippi. Legal Experience: Member of the National Academy of Elder Lawyers (NELA). Law clerk to Presiding Justice Armis Hawkins on the MS Supreme Court and US District Judge Neal Biggers. Adjunct professor of U of M for three years (Appellate Advocacy).Represented clients in transactions and litigation throughout the US, and transactions in Canada, the Congo, England, and Taiwan. Military Service: Active duty with the USN onboard USS Ainsworth (FF-1090). Received three sea service awards and two naval expeditionary awards for service in the Persian Gulf. Honorable discharge as lieutenant. Legal Service: President of the Young Lawyers Division of the Mississippi Bar 1994-95; Editor of The Mississippi Lawyer Magazine. Awards/Professional Recognition:Outstanding Young Lawyer in MS (1995). Bencher of the American Inns of Court, a litigation honorary. In recognition of Hale's public service, the Oxford Rotary Club awarded him the Four Avenues of Service Award. Community Service: Locally, Hale is actively involved in his church session and served as an elder, and an adult Sunday school teacher. Hale serves on the board of Oxford Medical Ministries which provides local indigent health care. Family: Hale resides in Oxford with his wife, Cynthia, CCRN, ICU head nurse Baptist Memorial Hospital - North MS, and his two children, Catherine, on staff at the Heptitus B Foundation in Philadelphia, PN and Jason, a JTAC stationed at Pope AFB, NC.
