About E. Piland

Dudley was President and CEO of Piland and Associates, LLC (PAA), a company he formed to provide professional services to the electric industry. He brings over four decades of diverse experience and provides senior expertise to energy companies, law firms, investors, lenders, and others with an interest in the energy industry. He has negotiated purchased power agreements and evaluate how different technologies would compete in the energy market. He also helped implement new technologies and update traditional ones to provide market competitive and environmentally responsible solutions to repower America including solar, CO2 sequestration and ultra-fast response peaking power plant. Prior to forming PAA Dudley retired after an esteemed 31-year career with the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) where he was responsible for a billion-dollar annual budget as Executive Manager of Generation and VP and COO of GenTex Power Corporation. His experience included design, construction and operation of power plants as well as providing senior executive management of the deregulated segments of LCRA’s portfolio during the restructuring of the wholesale and retail electric markets in Texas. He served on ERCOT's Technical Advisory Subcommittee and chaired the Reliability Committee; was LCRA’s and Austin Energy’s Designated Representative for EPA for the Fayette Power Project; was on the initial Executive Council for the Plant Design and Operating Committee for the Large Public Power Council; and was VP of the Clean Coal Technology Foundation of Texas. Piland has been a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas since 1980. Dudley is very involved in community activities. He chaired many local Boards such as Habitat for Humanity and the University of Texas Exes Association and was President of St. Paul Lutheran Church for almost a decade. He currently chairs the Boards for St. Mark's Medical Center and the Fayette County Appraisal District and the Live On Board which oversees the endowment fund of the Gulf Coast Synod of the ELCA. He also serves on the Board of the Community Hospital Corporation. Specialties: Management expertise includes executive leadership including Board interface, strategic planning, engineering management, power plant (coal, gas, combined cycle, hydro, solar and wind power) operations, maintenance and construction, performance auditing, process improvement, long term power agreements, managing multi-partner processes and relationships, employee relations and development, and community involvement.
