About Douglas Fierberg

Licensed in D.C., Maryland, and Michigan. Practicing nationwide. Over three decades ago, Doug established the first national law practice focused on representing victims and survivors of school violence. The work began on behalf of a high school student who survived brutal sexual assaults in Washington, D.C., and a college student hazed at the University of Maryland. The firm has served as lead counsel for families, victims and survivors for wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases in most states. Such cases include: * High school and college students and athletes fatally and brutally hazed, or who died as a result of the alcohol and drug-fueled activities and traditions of fraternities and sororities on college campuses; * Women sexually assaulted in fraternities; by clergy, athletes, school employees, and celebrities; * Victims of mass shootings in schools and workplaces; and * Victims of other wrongdoings that cause wrongful death or catastrophic injuries. Achievements include settlements, trial verdicts, and the imposition of reforms against fraternities, colleges, schools, students, perpetrators/rapists, liars, and other wrongdoers in excess of $380 Million. Mr. Fierberg served as lead counsel for twenty families affected by the tragic Virginia Tech mass shooting in April 2007. Since then, Mr. Fierberg has successfully represented victims of mass shootings at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (“UAH”), the Washington Navy Yard in the Naval Sea Systems Command Headquarters (“NAVSEA”), and the Central Visual and Performing Arts School (“CVPA”) in St. Louis, Missouri. No other attorney in the country has successfully led lawsuits against fraternities to hold them and their members responsible for the deaths and injuries caused by their dangerous traditions and negligence. Mr. Fierberg was lead trial attorney defending Rolling Stone Magazine and its founder against multiple defamation claims stemming from an article about fraternity sexual assaults. Mr. Fierberg has lectured on the topic of school violence and sexual assaults on campus to numerous universities and schools, including Harvard Law School (multiple times) and Cornell University, and professional associations such as the National Center for Victims of Crime and the American Association for Justice. His work has been featured in multiple documentaries and other national digital and print media, including 60 Minutes, Good Morning America, CNN's The Hunting Ground, HULU's Death in the Dorms, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Atlantic.
