About Diego Sánchez
Diego Sánchez is an immigration lawyer and policy strategist focused on advancing pragmatic, bipartisan solutions in a deeply divided policy landscape. An immigrant rights advocate for more than 15 years, shaped by his own journey as an undocumented college student and former DACA recipient, he brings both lived experience and policy expertise to conversations about immigration, higher education, and common-ground solutions.He serves as Vice President of Policy and Strategy at the Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration and as a 2026 Non-Resident Fellow at Cornell University’s Center on Democracy, where he is advancing work on civil discourse and practical, solutions-oriented immigration policy in higher education.Previously, Diego directed the federal immigration portfolio at the Southern Poverty Law Center. He regularly speaks to university, business, and civic audiences on immigration, civil discourse, and constructive policymaking in a deeply divided America. In 2026, he served as Co-Chair of the Braver Angels National Convention, a national gathering of 800+ participants from across the political spectrum focused on constructive dialogue and bipartisan solutions.
