Dawne Ducarpe

After graduating from college and spending a decade as an at-home mom, in 2003 I began law school. Despite my years away from academia -- I scored very well on the LSAT, was awarded an academic scholarship to law school, and went on to graduate in the top 10% of my class. My subsequent years as a criminal trial attorney were remarkable. Appearing in court daily, arguing motions, and sitting as lead counsel on over 30 jury trials was a life-altering experience. The tireless hours I put into representing my clients and winning over 80% of my jury trials resulted in unparalleled personal growth. It was an extremely demanding era of my life, but one which I feel privileged to have experienced. After almost a decade in court, I made the difficult decision to set aside my law practice -- and pursue my passion for writing. I began writing for Magoosh E-learning shortly afterward and greatly enjoyed writing over 100 blogs for both their Bar Exam Series and Professional Writing Series. Simultaneously, I obtained an editing position at Black Fin Law Firm Marketing. I am responsible for editing all submissions from our team of writers for legal accuracy, grammar, and general readability. I subsequently began writing for the team as well. I now author web pages, city pages, and blogs wherein I combine my legal knowledge and writing skills to educate the public on the law. I find this incredibly fulfilling, as it puts both my passion for writing and my legal knowledge to very good use -- all while helping inform the public of their options when faced with a legal crisis. I am currently searching for additional work in the legal industry on a remote basis. I have no desire to start up my practice again, but I would be thrilled to put my legal knowledge to good use by remotely assisting other attorneys with their workload. I have excellent interpersonal skills, and I have a gift for handling clients and their issues in a way that leaves everyone feeling heard and valued. I am quite skilled in legal research and writing. Drawing from my years of practice as a criminal and family law attorney, I would be honored to put my skill set to use as remote support for any law practice.
