David Furman

David P. Furman is a litigation attorney at Furman Kornfeld Brennan LLP, where his practice focuses on professional liability defense, New York construction and Labor Law litigation, and insurance coverage and coverage litigation. Mr. Furman represents lawyers, law firms, accountants, insurance brokers, real estate professionals, and other professionals in matters involving alleged malpractice, errors and omissions, breach of professional duties, causation, damages, and related insurance issues. Mr. Furman also defends owners, general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, construction professionals, and insurers in New York construction accident litigation, including claims brought under Labor Law §§ 200, 240(1), and 241(6). His construction practice involves the evaluation and defense of liability, damages, indemnity, risk transfer, and insurance-related issues arising from construction site accidents. In his insurance coverage practice, Mr. Furman analyzes policy language and advises insurers on coverage issues arising under construction-related policies, professional liability policies, and other commercial insurance policies. His work includes providing coverage opinions, drafting reservation of rights letters, assessing excess exposure evaluations, allocation issues, and litigating declaratory judgment actions. Before joining FKB, Mr. Furman gained insurance-market experience in London with Ark Syndicate Management Ltd., where he assisted Lloyd’s Market underwriting teams in evaluating various risks. He also served as a judicial intern for Hon. Anthony Cannataro in New York Supreme Court, now an Associate Judge of the New York Court of Appeals. Mr. Furman earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and his B.A. from Saint Joseph’s University, where he competed as a member of the track and field team. He is admitted to practice in New York State, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
