David Blackwood

DAVID M. BLACKWOOD Managing Partner - Outside GC CA LLP David Blackwood joined Outside GC as a Managing Partner of its California firm, Outside GC CA LLP, in April 2016. From 2016-2018, Mr. Blackwood also served as part-time General Counsel of Technologent, and prior to that was a Partner with InnovaCounsel LLP. Prior to that, he was Assistant General Counsel of RSM McGladrey (the fifth largest U.S. provider of assurance, tax and consulting services) and General Counsel of subsidiary McGladrey Capital Markets (a global investment banking firm specializing in middle-market M&A and corporate finance; purchased by D.A. Davidson in early 2012). Before joining RSM, Mr. Blackwood was Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Canon Computer Systems, a $1.4B computer peripheral systems company. He started his legal career practicing law at several firms in New York City, primarily in the corporate transaction field: Dorsey & Whitney, Squire Sanders & Dempsey, and Thacher Proffitt & Wood. Mr. Blackwood holds a B.A. degree from Cornell University, and a J.D. degree (with Specialization in International Law) from Cornell Law School. He is active in national and local legal industry and business community activities, having served on the Board of the Southern California Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel and as Chairman of the Orange County Bar Association’s Corporate Counsel Section. He is also active in various local charities.
