David Baffa

As Seyfarth’s Chicago Office Co-Managing partner, I bring broad-based employment litigation and traditional labor experience. I handle federal and state employment matters involving discrimination, harassment, wage and hour disputes, disability and accommodation claims, breach-of-contract issues, and wrongful discharge. I also manage complex administrative agency investigations, including systemic, pattern-and-practice, and disparate impact matters related to pay equity, hiring, testing, background checks, promotions, and accommodations. In addition, I have experience with labor arbitrations, union campaigns, collective bargaining negotiations, and proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board. I leverage my litigation background to efficiently manage employment disputes, foster collaboration, and apply best practices, while staying current on legal developments. As an early adopter of Lean Six Sigma in legal service delivery, I focus on driving value and operational excellence for clients. I have supported clients through business restructurings and workforce reductions, led initiatives to centralize and streamline leave and accommodation processes, and conducted pay equity, classification, and workplace practice assessments. I also develop practical tools to improve hiring, employee engagement, and compliance, and regularly deliver training on leave management, anti-harassment, and positive employee relations through Seyfarth At Work.
