Danielle Kays

Danielle has been a successful litigator for over 20 years. Danielle advises and represents companies in a broad range of biometric, privacy and employment law matters arising under state and federal laws, in individual and class actions. Danielle is a thought leader on biometric privacy laws (including BIPA) and new class actions arising under the Illinois Genetic Information Privacy Act (GIPA). She is experienced litigating state and federal court cases involving the defense of employment discrimination claims, wrongful discharge, and retaliation matters. She also defends complex litigation in a variety of practice areas, including biometric privacy actions, financial services, consumer finance, and class actions. Danielle has extensive trial experience and has obtained more than 35 successful verdicts for her clients. Danielle has succeeded on numerous motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, preliminary injunctions, and settlement negotiations in federal and state courts. In addition to her extensive litigation practice, Danielle has represented clients at hundreds of arbitrations and mediations. Danielle recently was listed in the "Top 50 Women Leaders in Law” in 2023 and 2024 by Women We Admire for being "instrumental in leading organizations by offering unparalleled legal guidance, championing the rights of clients, and steadfastly upholding the tenets of justice." Danielle has been named in Illinois Super Lawyers®. She has taught trial advocacy for the Notre Dame Law School and coached trial team for Chicago-Kent Law School. Danielle also enjoys mentoring college and high school students interested in law. Danielle serves on the Executive Board of the Illinois Wesleyan University Board of Trustees and served on the Bloomington-Normal YMCA Board of Directors. Danielle is a happy mother to two teen boys.
