Dan Hartzog

In the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina there are only a handful of lawyers who practice civil litigation for the defense who are Fellows in the American College of Trial Lawyers; Dan Hartzog is one of them. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates in which he holds the achieved rank of Advocate. He has tried over 100 jury trials as lead counsel in state and federal court with excellent outcomes. Dan has also argued numerous times in the appellate courts of North Carolina and in the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has been in practice since 1973. He is currently in an Of Counsel role with Hartzog Law Group LLP where the firm focuses on the defense of municipalities, police departments, housing authorities, universities and other entities when they are faced with civil and employment claims and lawsuits. In his career Dan has also been involved in the defense of many significant and high profile cases involving torts and business disputes. For a number of years, he was a certified mediator as well. In 2019, Dan was inducted into the NCBA’s Legal Practice Hall of Fame in 2019. In his Of Counsel role, he provides advice to the other attorneys in the firm with the benefit of his experience.
