Craig Jacobson

Craig A. Jacobson is a partner in the Chicago office of Gordon & Rees. Mr. Jacobson concentrates his practice in commercial litigation and the handling of complex insurance coverage disputes. Mr. Jacobson regularly represents domestic and international insurers in matters involving coverage issues arising under property policies, fidelity and financial institution bonds, surety bonds, commercial crime policies, professional liability policies, director and officer liability policies, and commercial general liability policies. Mr. Jacobson is an accomplished litigator who has represented clients in numerous cases involving multi-million dollar exposures in both state and federal courts across the United States. Of note, Mr. Jacobson has successfully litigated several major first party property insurance coverage actions, including claims arising from the 9/11 terrorist attacks and Hurricane Katrina. Some of the first party property coverage issues he has addressed include business interruption, flood vs. wind causation, arson, limits of liability, actual cash value, replacement cost value, material misrepresentation/rescission, ensuing loss, extra expense and the application of policy deductibles and exclusions. Mr. Jacobson has counseled corporate and insurer clients in a variety of large exposure commercial, environmental and products liability matters. His products liability experience includes claims and litigation related to firearms, automobiles, construction equipment, medical devices, chemicals and food additives. Mr. Jacobson has extensive experience in handling and litigating large scale fidelity bond and commercial crime policy claims. His experience includes claims arising from embezzlement schemes, bribery schemes, fraudulent loan schemes, forgery schemes, commodity trading losses and fraudulent mortgage conveyances.
