Courtney Baird

I serve as outside counsel to businesses helping them with compliance and risk management issues and vigorously represent them in prosecution and defense of litigation. I work with clients to understand their business and legal objectives and use my experience and skills to cost-effectively obtain the best possible outcome for my clients. My primary practice areas include complex litigation, defense of class actions, defense of consumer claims (Consumer Legal Remedies Act, Unfair Competition Law, and False Advertising Law), non-compete and trade secrets, contract, and higher education claims. I am licensed to practice in California and Nevada and represent clients in all forums, including federal and state courts and arbitration. I have handled hundreds of arbitrations before various arbitration forums, so I have a deep understanding of the arbitration process and the various arbitration rules. I also counsel businesses on all arbitration-related issues. I currently serve as: (1) the Vice Chair of the Commercial and Antitrust Litigation Division of Duane Morris LLP’s Trial Practice Group; (2) a member of the Steering Committee for University of San Diego School of Law Annual Class Action Law Forum; (3) a pro bono Arbitrator for the Arbitration Committee of the San Diego County Bar Association; (4) Hiring Partner for Duane Morris’ San Diego office Summer Associate Program; and (5) a member of the firm’s Partners Board. I have served on the Board of Governors for the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and as Chair and Vice Chair of the San Diego County Bar, Civil Litigation Section. I am the past Office Chair for Duane Morris’ Women's Impact Network for Success and have been recognized as one of San Diego’s Super Lawyers and San Diego's Best of the Bar.
