Received undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in 1998, and law degree from Tulane Law School in 2002. Admitted to practice before the Illinois and Florida State Courts in 2003 and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 2004. In 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013, named Super Lawyer in Illinois. Before joining Litchfield Cavo LLP in 2005, served as a law clerk for the Honorable Avern Cohn, in the United States District Court for the District of Michigan. Prior to that, worked as an Intern/Assistant Prosecutor in the Kalamazoo Prosecuting Attorney's Office. While at Tulane Law School, served as the board member and coordinator of La Alianza De Derecho, providing pro bono legal aid to Cuban detainees, and also served as a student attorney for the Civil Litigation Clinic, representing individuals involved in civil rights cases alleging discrimination based on any number of grounds, including race, color, national origin, religion, disability, gender. Received Tulane pro bono award for excellence. Successfully defends clients in civil rights discrimination suits, suits alleging unlawful seizure of property and false arrest, violation of due process, violation of rights to equal protection under the laws, conspiracy, First Amendment violations, due process violations, and malicious prosecution. Successfully defends clients in labor and employment disputes before the IDHR, EEOC and in Federal Court. Defends corporations and individuals in other civil litigation matters such as personal injury, municipal liablity and other areas. Fluent in Spanish.
