About CJ Griffin
I am a Partner at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden and the Director of the firm's Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center, a cutting edge program devoted to public interest impact litigation and appellate advocacy that advances social, racial and economic justice, protects civil liberties and constitutional rights, and promotes an open and transparent government. As a member of the firm's Media Law Practice, I represent media entities and individuals (citizens, activists, bloggers) in lawsuits where public agencies have violated the New Jersey Open Public Records Act (OPRA). I also provide a wide variety of media law litigation and counseling services, including defamation defense, First Amendment/free speech, anti-SLAPP, privacy, courtroom access, and the Shield Law. In 2019, I was named a "Litigation Trailblazer" by the National Law Journal, in recognition of my public records work. In 2020, the Star Ledger / NJ.com named me one of "20 New Jerseyans to Watch in 2020." I publish extensively on a variety of legal topics and consider legal research and writing to be a passion.
