I have been practicing law for over 28 years, 16 of which involved insurance defense. I found that over time, that I enjoyed my work less and less. Rather than practice in the adversarial system fighting over insurance money, I wanted to show up in the world as a lawyer in a very different way. I deeply desired a partnership with clients. Just over 12 years ago, I made a pivotal decision and moved into practicing estate & business planning, focusing on families with children and family owned businesses. This group was under-served in my community. I also work differently than many other practitioners. My goal always is to create a trusting relationship with clients and serve them going forward so that my clients know their plan will work. I am not a transactional attorney. I first educate about just what to think about when it comes to estate planning. Through education, my clients make empowered choices. Then together, we create a robust estate plan ensuring that that loved ones are protected from court and conflict, that assets never go to children too soon and assets are creditor protected should the client so desire. People who seek value over price, look to work with an attorney focused exclusively on estate planning and care most about thorough planning, are the very best fit for our firm. I now have a thriving practice, serving clients I love. It feels wonderful solving problems that most clients didn’t even know they had while also alleviating big worries!
