About Charlie Goetsch

Attorney Charlie Goetsch has over 30 years experience protecting individuals who have been injured by a railroad or suffered retaliation for blowing the whistle on safety or fraud issues in the workplace. He has tried over 50 federal trials and argued over a dozen federal appeals, including the landmark case of Metro North Commuter R.R. v. Buckley before the United States Supreme Court. More than a dozen of his cases have resulted in multi-million dollar verdicts or settlements. He represents qui tam relators in False Claims Act cases involving the misuse of governmental monies, as well as employees with individual whistleblower retaliation claims. He created the leading resources for Federal Rail Safety Act matters, the "Train Law Blog" and the "Rail Whistleblower Library." He is a magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brown University, and holds an LL.M. graduate degree from the Harvard Law School and a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He has been a Visiting Scholar and American Bar Foundation Fellow at the Yale Law School, and is the author of articles and books on legal and historical subjects.
