Charles Dewrell

Charles “CJ” Dewrell is a Partner at the Tallahassee office and joined Butler in 2018. He litigates on behalf of individuals, public, and private companies involving complex high-exposure lawsuits in the following areas: construction defect, construction equipment, mobile and tower cranes, premises liability, product defect, and complex first-party property coverage and third-party liability matters.CJ was born in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Florida State University College of Law in 2012. While in law school, he was approved by the Florida Supreme Court and worked as a Certified Legal Intern with the State Attorney’s Office in Tallahassee, where he completed his first jury trial as “first chair” before graduating from law school.After passing the Florida Bar exam, CJ was promoted to a full-time Assistant State Attorney position in Tallahassee. While working as a state prosecutor, he litigated hundreds of criminal cases in county and circuit court, ranging from juvenile and misdemeanor crimes to violent felony offenses.Prior to joining Butler, CJ served as the Deputy Chief Attorney for the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (“DBPR”), Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering, where he litigated complex administrative matters before Florida’s Division of Administrative Hearings and worked as in-house counsel to the Director of Pari-Mutuel Wagering.CJ is admitted to practice in Florida and the U.S. District Courts, Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Florida.https://www.butler.legal/attorneys/charles-cj-dewrell/
