About Charles Brown
Charles R. Brown is a founding member and senior partner of Fields & Brown. Mr. Brown began developing his litigation skills in the 1980s by working as an attorney for the Office of State Public Defender. He was lead counsel in numerous high profile trials, including several capital murder trials. In addition, Mr. Brown served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office and as special prosecutor for Jackson County. During his 37 years of experience, he has prosecuted and defended as many jury trials of all types as any attorney in Jackson County, Missouri. In 1987, Mr. Fields and Mr. Brown established Fields & Brown. As a result of his vast trial experience, Mr. Brown has been involved in most of the complex litigation matters handled by Fields & Brown during the past 25 years. Currently, Mr. Brown manages the workers’ compensation and insurance defense areas of the firm’s practice. On average, he is responsible for overseeing more than 300 open workers’ compensation and personal injury matters. As such, during the past 37 years, Mr. Brown has tried over 100 jury trials to verdict and has conducted numerous workers’ compensation hearings. Additionally, Mr. Brown has often been asked to provide demonstrations of various trial techniques for students at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Law.
