About Brittany Bonner

Brittany Bonner is a Project Attorney with Dade Legal Aid. In this role, she helps low income clients facing a variety of civil legal problems. She has also acted as a GAL and an AAL for children who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected, and works on special projects. Previously, she was a Partner at Filler Rodriguez, LLP where she focused the majority of her practice on high net worth divorce and child custody cases. Prior to joining Filler Rodriguez, Brittany was a Division Chief in the Dependency Division of the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel in Miami, Florida, where she represented parents who have had their children removed from their custody. Brittany began her career practicing criminal defense in state and federal courts, both as an APD at the Miami Public Defender’s Office and in private practice, where she has tried more than 40 criminal cases to verdict. Brittany is very active in her legal community. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Miami-Dade Bar, as well as co-chairs the Miami-Dade Bar’s Family Courts Committee. She also serves on the Florida Bar’s Grievance Committee, and various committees for the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar. She has been a frequent guest lecturer at University of Miami School of Law, and has spoken on various topics such as Ethical Issues in the Representation of Children, Human Trafficking, Case Law Updates, the Representation of Low Income Clients in Family Cases, the Intersection of Bankruptcy and Family Law, Attorney’s Fees, and the Nuts and Bolts of Family Law Seminars, among others. She participated in Children’s Week in Tallahassee with Florida Youth Shine, lobbying alongside foster youth to pass legislation to improve Florida’s Child Welfare System. She has also provided pro-bono legal services to asylum seeking families with the CARA Family Detention Project in Dilley, Texas. Brittany graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida in 2005 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. She was also a Dean's Merit Scholar at the University of Miami School of Law, where she received her law degree in 2008. At University of Miami, Brittany received recognition for her achievements in Litigation Skills and Advanced Evidence. Brittany is licensed to practice law in Florida, New York, and Georgia. She has been recognized as one of South Florida’s 40 Under 40 Outstanding Lawyers by the CFF as well as the Miami-Dade Bar, and was recently inducted into the Miami-Dade Bar’s Circle of Excellence.
