About Brian Anderson
I'm a Partner and Co-Leader of the Sports Industry Team at Sheppard. I work on the transactions that move ownership, capital, and commercial rights in sports: club acquisitions and minority investments, capital raises, expansion teams, sponsorship and media rights, stadium and facilities projects, and technology and data deals. Much of it is cross-border; a growing share involves multi-club ownership.Most of my work is in global soccer — MLS, NWSL, Liga MX, the EFL, and the Premier League — though it also reaches baseball, hockey, rugby, motorsport, combat sports, college athletics, esports, and leagues still being built.That commercial work isn't confined to sports. I advise technology, retail, and consumer companies on IP licensing, commercial contracts, and advertising.I also invest in soccer clubs and sports technology companies and serve on their boards. Sitting on that side has shown me how governance structures hold up once the deal closes, and what commercial terms look like to the people operating under them.
