Beverly Nelms

I have spent my entire life living in the east Tennessee area, having grown up in upper east Tennessee before moving to Knoxville in 1990 to attend The University of Tennessee. I began my career at Frantz, McConnell & Seymour, LLP as a law clerk. Early in my career, I spent approximately three years working in another firm doing primarily family law and personal injury. In 1997, I returned to Frantz, McConnell & Seymour, LLP as an associate attorney, becoming a partner in 2002. I have served as the firm's managing partner and served as a member of the Executive Committee. I handle matters as diverse as conservatorships and construction contract disputes to workers' compensation claims. I have appeared at each level of state court in Tennessee, as well as the U.S. Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. I represent clients before the Tennessee Department of Labor. I serve as a hearing officer for the Civil Service Merit Board and served as an Ombudsman for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. In 2016, I was appointed to serve as a member of the Trail Court Vacancy Commission. In addition, I am a Rule 31 listed general civil mediator. Most people do not enjoy being involved in litigation. I enjoy assisting clients through the process, being their voice whether in front of a judge, jury or administrative hearing officer. I am a member of several legal organizations, including the Knoxville and Tennessee Bar Associations, the Defense Research Institute, the American Health Lawyers Association and the Tennessee Association of Construction Counsel. On a more personal note, I am the wife of a retired member of the military and the mother of two children.
