As an Intellectual Property attorney, I protect creativity. I work with clients to protect their valuable assets in the form of patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. I also consider how that Intellectual Property fits in business operations internally and in the marketplace. I base my creative approach on the lessons I learned from two great mentors. My first mentor was my father, who was a skillful tailor by trade. He gave his customers professional and personalized service so their clothes fit well and they looked great. He was the antidote to ‘one size fits all’. He fit the clothes to the person. From my father I learned that each client is special and unique and the solution for each particular client is not ‘one size fits all”. My second mentor was my favorite law school professor, the late Judge Dean Sodaro. On the first day of law school he told us “you have to be an expert in your clients’ business in order to be a good lawyer.” I fulfill that goal by digging deep into the ‘soul’ of my client’s business. Based on the lessons from these two fine mentors, I give my clients the best legal advice possible based on understanding their business and giving ‘tailored’ legal services that protect their copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets. I recognize that the creative parts of a business are also the foundation of the value of a business. My creative approach emphasizes taking action sooner rather than later. I encourage my clients to protect their creativity before outside forces erode or interfere with their value. As a result, my legal services add actual and quantifiable value to my clients’ businesses.
