About Barbara Cotter
I think that every dollar counts when an employer is facing an employment dispute. Every case I handle incorporates that principle. As a litigator, I defend against wage and hour class action claims and representative claims. In addition to representative actions, I defend against wrongful termination and harassment claims, individual wage and hour disputes (including claims for overtime, missed meal and rest breaks, and misclassification), claims under the Business and Professions Code for alleged unfair business practices, and other employment related claims such as defamation, emotional distress, and breach of contract. My clients include a broad range of businesses – manufacturers, retailers, professionals, contractors, public entities, and restaurants. Of course, my first goal for my clients is to help them prevent claims. I draft and review personnel policies, employment manuals, contracts, and severance agreements, and provide harassment prevention training – customized to the client’s particular needs – in English and Spanish.
