About Asra Hashmi
Asra Hashmi combines deep subject-matter knowledge with a pragmatic, business-focused approach to help clients navigate the full spectrum of employment, labor, and accessibility challenges. With more than a decade of legal experience, she represents and advises employers in all areas of labor and employment law, including discrimination, harassment, and retaliation; wage and hour; non-compete and non-disclosure covenants; leaves of absence; employment agreements and policies; and workplace safety. As an experienced litigator, Asra advocates for clients in all phases of litigation before federal and state courts and administrative agencies. Her practice focuses on defending clients in individual, class, and collective actions under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Equal Pay Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act (PHRA), the Pennsylvania Minimum Wage Act (PMWA), the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Act (PMMA), and other federal, state, and common law theories. Her litigation experience also extends to high-exposure matters, including catastrophic-injury and wrongful-death cases.Prior to joining Clark Hill, Asra spent six years at two of the largest specialty employment law firms, where she built a litigation practice spanning federal and state courts, and administrative proceedings across the country. During that time, Asra also devoted a significant segment of her practice to disability access litigation, defending clients against claims involving website and digital accessibility as well as architectural barriers.Building on that focus, she regularly advises and trains national and multinational corporations, regional employers, and emerging businesses on legal risk mitigation strategies and on issues related to architectural and digital accessibility, including websites, mobile applications, and closed captioning. Before entering private practice, Asra spent eight years at Verizon working in human resources, sales operations, and government contracts. That experience gives her a distinctive perspective, having advised and operated within a major employer before ever representing one. This unique vantage point continues to shape her practical, results-oriented approach to legal practice. Clients value the result-oriented counsel that anticipates how employment decisions play out in the real world, not just in the courtroom.
