About Arnold Umbach

Trip Umbach is a partner and founder of the labor and employment practice at Starnes Davis Florie LLP. He represents both public and private employers in all types of labor and employment disputes, from defending discrimination claims to handling traditional union labor relations matters.He has extensive experience in wage and hour matters. He regularly advises clients concerning non-competition agreements and litigates cases arising from the interpretation of these agreements. A significant aspect of his practice is helping clients make employment decisions and develop policies that reduce the risk of being sued by employees or becoming unionized. Trip has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America from 2008 to 2016. He has been named a “Leader in his Field” in the 2008-2016 Chambers USA Legal Guides. Alabama Super Lawyers Magazine has recognized him as one of the top attorneys in the state from 2008 to 2015. Trip earned his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law, where he graduated first in his class. He was also a member of the Alabama Law Review, Order of the Coif and the National Moot Court team. He earned his B.A. in English from the University of Virginia, where he played varsity baseball. Before beginning the private practice of law, Trip clerked for the Honorable Patrick E. Higginbotham on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.
