After 37 years of trying cases, I turned to settling them as a neutral. I facilitate mediations and sit as an arbitrator. I am particularly suited to these roles because I have tried many civil jury trials. I am a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, both of which are invitation-only institutions reserved for trustworthy and very effective trial lawyers. My nearly four decades of evaluating how juries decide is invaluable to litigants seeking a resolution short of trial. I have tried cases involving wrongful death and catastrophic injuries, including spinal and traumatic brain injuries, for both plaintiffs and defendants. Other trials include excessive force claims resulting in death and serious bodily injury, products liability, truck accidents, medical malpractice wrongful death, automobile crashes, premises liability, employment, food safety, fire and property loss claims, and many others. I have tried commercial cases and land use claims, as well. In addition, I run focus groups and mock trials for SnowTrial™ Consulting. In this role, I have seen many juries deliberate and have interviewed dozens of jurors about how they decide issues. This has added to my breadth of experience. In my capacity as President of Snow Christensen & Martineau for 8 years, I regularly developed consensus among lawyers with opposing viewpoints. I did so by listening, and by encouraging people to consider one another’s perspectives. I did so by gaining the empathic trust of those around me. These same skills and personality traits allow litigants and their lawyers to trust me as a neutral.
