Andrew Kaufman

I proudly serve as a founding partner of Kaufman Borgeest & Ryan LLP, specializing in healthcare litigation, representing providers across a spectrum of medical specialties, notably within the esteemed medical institutions of the New York Metropolitan Area. Across a span of 4 decades, I have tried more than one hundred cases to verdict, including numerous cases of multimillion-dollar exposure. I've also contributed my knowledge to the legal community by publishing articles and lecturing, delving into areas of medical malpractice, risk management, negotiation techniques, settlement strategies, and drug and medical devices liability litigation. My contributions have found notable platforms in esteemed publications like The New York Law Journal, Medical Malpractice Law and Strategy, and The American Journal of Forensic Psychiatry. In addition to my legal practice, I've held significant roles in professional organizations. I am the past President of the New York State Medical Defense Bar and have been a keynote speaker at the American Bar Association Section on Law and Medicine annual convention. My dedication and accomplishments in the legal field have been recognized by esteemed organizations. I have consistently been named to the New York Metropolitan Super Lawyers list from 2006-2022, a recognition bestowed upon only 5% of lawyers in the state each year. Furthermore, Best Lawyers in America has honored me in their 2015-2024 editions for Medical Malpractice Law - Defendants and Personal Injury Litigation - Defendants. In 2021 and 2022, I was privileged to be named Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers for my contributions to personal injury and medical malpractice law in the New York City Region.
