About Albert Boro

Al Boro draws on his more than 35 years of legal experience to advise clients on complex litigation and strategic business negotiations. He represents clients in antitrust, business litigation, criminal defense, intellectual property, and technology law matters. He previously served as Senior Vice President, Strategic Business Development, General Counsel, and Secretary of SoloPower, Inc., a CIGS photovoltaic module manufacturer in Silicon Valley, and was a partner with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP in San Francisco, practicing in the firm’s antitrust and litigation groups. Al clerked for United States Supreme Court Justice Byron R. White in Washington, D.C., and Judge Walter J. Cummings of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago, Illinois. Al has represented companies and individuals in the technology, financial, and energy industries. He has tried civil and criminal cases to jury verdicts, including in 2023 a two-month federal jury trial in which he defended a former President of the Sonoma County charter of the Hells Angels on a RICO conspiracy charge and obtained a defense verdict on the murder conspiracy charge. He has represented clients in antitrust class action price-fixing cases and commercial disputes, and served as a defense liaison counsel on two large federal Multidistrict Litigation (MDL) antitrust cases. He has also managed internal corporate investigations and has counseled emerging growth companies on strategic relationships and private financing transactions. Al is the Chair of the Legal Ethics Committee of the Bar Association of San Francisco, and a past Chair of the Antitrust and Unfair Competition Law Section of the California State Bar. He co-authored the Chapter on “Horizontal Combinations” in the treatise California Antitrust and Unfair Competition Law, Revised Edition (2012), and the 2025 update. He is a trial panel attorney on the Federal Public Defender's Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Panel for the Northern District of California, serving from 1992 to 1999 and beginning again in 2014.
