About Joel Androphy
Joel M. Androphy has a nationwide practice representing individuals and corporations in white collar criminal proceedings and qui tam civil actions for which he has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars in settlements for his clients and the government. He is the author of several legal books: White Collar Crime, a 6 volume treatise by Thompson/West, and the Federal False Claims Act and Qui Tam Litigation by Law Journal Press. Joel’s cases have appeared in the N.Y. Times, Wall St. Journal, and other major news publications. He is a legal commentator for ABC-13, and a frequent commentator for MSNBC, CNBC, and Bloomberg. In September 2009, Houston Press named Joel Androphy the Best Civil Attorney in the 2009 Best of Houston® publication. In October 2010, Joel was selected as one of the Top 75 Plaintiffs Lawyers in the country. Joel has established a Pro Bono program at the Firm to represent in criminal cases men and women of color who live in Houston’s Fifth Ward. Berg & Androphy’s goal is to level the playing field and to eliminate to the extent possible the well-documented, racially motivated convictions and sentences that make a successful life for the fifth Ward residents an impossibility. For many, prison life has taken the place of high school, college, and graduate school.
