About Valerie Cantu
Although I was born and reared in Georgia, I have happily called Texas home since 1996. I obtained my Bachelor of Business Administration, with an emphasis in human resources management, from the University of Georgia. I subsequently attended St. Mary’s University School of Law, where I served as both a Staff Writer and a Comment Editor of St. Mary’s Law Journal, was a member of Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity, and was an invitee of Phi Delta Phi International Legal Honor Fraternity. My practice includes civil and business litigation throughout Texas. In November 1999, I obtained my license to practice law in Texas. Until 2003, I practiced at a nationwide firm, defending insurance companies against homeowners’ insurance coverage claims regarding foundation movement and microbial growth and against employees’ claims for alleged wrongful denial of ERISA benefits. I spent the next ten years at a prominent San Antonio-based civil litigation defense firm, defending businesses and professionals regarding construction defects, premises liability and personal injury claims, as well as defending veterinarians against professional malpractice claims. At Pearson Legal, PC, I now apply my extensive defense litigation knowledge and experience to assist school districts, businesses, and residential property owners with defective and damaged properties.
