About Jim Goodwin
Beginning in 2026, after nearly thirty years as a full-time litigator, and just shy of 60 jury trials, I have transitioned to semi-retirement and am no longer accepting new cases as lead trial counsel. I now focus my practice on providing advisory and alternate dispute-resolution services. My goal is simple: help clients avoid litigation whenever possible, and to resolve conflicts efficiently, thoughtfully, and on their own terms when litigation cannot be avoided. My interest in alternative dispute resolution began in graduate school, where I studied communication theory. Today, I combine those principles with decades of courtroom experience to help parties find practical, durable solutions. I offer mediation, arbitration, jury selection, and litigation consulting services designed to reduce risk, control costs, and move matters forward. Although I am stepping away from serving as lead trial counsel, I remain deeply connected to the courtroom. When litigation is necessary, I can assist strategically or help you find the right advocate for your case.
