About Regen O'Malley
For over 20 years, Regen O'Malley has concentrated her practice on the defense of insurers against both contractual and extra-contractual claims, including bad faith and unfair trade practices. She also regularly counsels insurers regarding complex coverage issues and represents insurers in defending and prosecuting declaratory judgment actions in protracted coverage disputes. Her experience includes employment practices liability, professional liability, directors and officers, errors and omissions, commercial general liability, business property, umbrella/excess, LHWCA, homeowners, and automobile insurance policies. Regen also has substantial civil litigation/ insurance defense experience in both state and federal courts. She regularly defends companies in the context of employment liability and regularly provides employment advice and counsel, including drafting and updating employee handbooks and employment policies. Regen also has decades of litigation experience in the areas of non-profit liability, director and officer liability, insurance agent/broker liability, and contractor and subcontractor liability, trucking liability, and premises liability. Regen also has substantial appellate experience, successfully handling numerous appeals in the Connecticut Appellate and Connecticut Supreme Court as well as in the United States Second Circuit Court of Appeals on matters ranging from civil rights and insurance-related actions to those involving legal and medical malpractice. As a member of the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA), Regen currently serves as Chair of the CT Lawyer Advisory Committee and on the Presidential Fellows Committee. She is also past a past Board of Governors member and a District 17 Delegate, past Chair of the Insurance Law Section and current Executive Committee member. She is also a past member of the Hartford County Bar Association Bench Bar Committee as well as an emeritus member of the Oliver Ellsworth Inn of Court. She was elected as a New England "Super Lawyer" from 2017 to 2019 and New England Super Lawyer's "Rising Star" from 2009 through 2013 in insurance coverage. Regen is also actively involved in her community through a variety of civic and professional activities. She currently serves on the Board of Connecticut Humanities, formerly as Chair of the Governance Committee. She also has volunteered for many years with the New Britain YWCA, including currently on the Board of Trustees and in the past as Board President. Regen also serves as a local alumni representative for Haverford College.
