About John Shea
Experienced labor and employment law attorney providing comprehensive legal representation to private and public sector employers. Counsels employers on compliance and management issues, performs employee and workplace investigations and litigates employment related claims, including defending: claims of discrimination, retaliation and harassment under Title VII and the CFEPA; discrimination claims under 42 U.S.C. 1981, the ADA, the ADEA; wrongful termination claims; wage and hour claims under the FLSA; FMLA claims; and a variety of employment-related common law tort and contract claims. Additional public sector litigation experience includes handling all types of constitutional claims maintainable against municipalities and their officers and employees under 42 U.S.C. 1983, including First Amendment claims asserting unlawful retaliation or the suppression of protected speech, Fourth Amendment claims alleging false arrest and excessive force and Fourteenth Amendment claims alleging the denial of due process or equal protection of the law. Labor experience includes representing employers in all facets of collective barganing, including contract administration, negotiations and mediation, defense of unfair labor practice claims and grievance arbitrations.
