About Thomas Esparza
• After 44 years practicing law, I am still having a great time. Especially now, that i feel that positive changes are coming from Washington. I am the past Chair of the Texas Chapter of AILA. I am the former Chairman of the Austin Commission on Immigrant Affairs. I also served as a member of the steering committee of the Immigrant Services Network of Austin (ISNA) for several years ending my term in 2012. • I love to work on complex immigration and citizenship cases. * I also work on cases where the State of Texas denies a birth certificate for a variety of reasons. • I was one of the first three Hispanics in Texas Certified as a Specialist in Immigration and Nationality Law (1985). • • I used to lecture for the University of Texas, the State Bar of Texas, Travis County Bar associations, and AILA. Now leave that to the younger attorneys looking to make a name for themselves. I I now teach small groups such as criminal defense bar associations or District and County attorney staffs. I am a regular contributor of articles to both English and Spanish language newspapers. I still publish on my web site; tomesparza.com a variety of different articles, legal briefs and other documents in the public domain that may be of interest to you.• I owned a publishing company Starlightpress.com where I provided bilingual educational materials to schools and other entities. I wrote & published children’s & bilingual educational materials. My frequent co author is my mom, Esther LaMadrid Esparza who at 97 still keeps rocking and rolling• I answer all my emails on immigration law eventually at tom@tomesparza.com. I honor of Laurier McDonald, Attorney of Edinburg, Texas and a pioneer in immigration law in Texas. In addition to Laurier, Bob Shivers of San Antonio, Harry Gee and Charles Foster of Houston and Harry Joe of Dallas have mentored and taught me during my entire career. My best attorney friend on the planet is Adan Vega. When we were young and just starting out in our careers it was good to have him as a sounding board for ideas and cases.
