About Kirsten Castañeda
For 25 years, I've worked with trial lawyers in federal and state courtrooms—before, during, and after trial—in addition to briefing and arguing state and federal appeals and original proceedings. In 2018-19, I worked with trial teams at nine jury trials, as well as arguing summary judgment motions, expert challenges, and other pretrial motions. In 2020, I worked with a trial team at an in-person jury trial and argued motions at evidentiary and non-evidentiary remote hearings. In tandem with my trial-level work, I continue to draft briefs and formulate strategy for mandamus proceedings and traditional, interlocutory, and permissive appeals in the Texas courts of appeals, Texas Supreme Court, and the Fifth Circuit. My clients range from Fortune 500 companies to entrepreneurs in Texas and other jurisdictions nationwide. Learning a client’s business and litigation goals allows me to craft arguments and strategy that serve both the immediate case and my client’s long-term needs. I'm proud that my work has helped shape the law in several key areas, including premises and products liability, insurance defense, healthcare liability claims, oil and gas, class actions, the Texas Constitution, and federal preemption.
