Chris Tomchuck

I am an experienced attorney who leads Caplan & Earnest’s Family Law practice. My law practice is based in Boulder, Eagle, and Summit counties and includes family law, divorce, criminal defense, construction/construction defect/real estate litigation, and civil litigation. I practice in all Front Range courts and most courts statewide. Caplan & Earnest LLC was founded in 1969 on the principles of respect for clients, well-researched legal solutions, a team approach to problem solving and fair pricing. Today, the firm provides a broad range of legal services in the areas of education, health law, litigation, immigration, real estate, business and commercial law, family law/divorce, estate planning, and workplace investigation.   I currently serve as a board member of the Colorado Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and am a member of the Judicial Performance Commission for Eagle, Summit, Lake, and Clear Creek counties. In addition, I have been a Colorado Bar Fellow since 2017. I am also a former President of the Colorado Divide Bar Association and was a representative to the Board of Governors of the Colorado Bar Association for almost a decade. I previously served as a deputy prosecutor for the City of Leadville.   Prior to beginning my career in law, I worked for John Nuveen Investments in Chicago as a securities trader in the Defined Portfolio department and worked for Intrawest Resort Development’s Copper Mountain and Keystone team while applying to law schools. When I’m not involved in legal pursuits, I’m an avid skier, hiker and mountain biker as well as a dedicated pet owner to our Newfypoo, Penne and Lab-mix Barry.
